Abbie and Adam are MARRIED!!! They had a beautiful indoor winter wedding day at the Cotton Room in Durham, North Carolina. They also got the surprise of SNOW on the wedding day!! The weather in North Carolina is always so unpredictable, but I’m glad these two got a little something extra special and beautiful to remember on their wedding day.
Since it snowed, that created even more obstacles for these two on their wedding day with the roads being bad. They both have the absolute best spirits and hearts and didn’t let this affect them. I woke up the day of the wedding with a text from Abbie letting me know that if I couldn’t make it in the winter storm she would understand, and they were still planning to get married no matter what. I wouldn’t have missed their wedding day for the world! As soon as I woke up, I packed up my car, and got to the venue three hours early to avoid the roads getting bad. Thank you to the staff at the cotton room for allowing me to hang out there early, and being so helpful to them on their snowy wedding day!
The Cotton Room is a historic textile factory from the early 1900s. This building is amazing! My favorite part of this wedding venue is all the amazing large windows. This helps bring in tons of natural light for portraits! This was my first wedding at The Cotton Room, and I hope to be back again soon!
The bridal suite in the cotton room is huge, which is perfect for photos, getting hair and makeup done, and having space to spread out. I was so impressed! While they did their hair and makeup, I got to photograph her beautiful bridal details and invitations. After her amazing bridesmaid Allie did her makeup, she got dressed with the help of her mother and twin sister, Josie. I have known Abbie and Josie since Kindergarten, so it was such an honor to get to be there on Abbie’s wedding day. Literally twenty years later!!!
Abbie and Adam met in high school. Adam actually asked Abbie to the prom and at first she said no! I can’t even believe it! Awhile after graduation, they had reconnected and I’m so glad she said yes. These two are perfect for one another.
They did a private first look together on their wedding day so they could maximize their time together and take portraits before the sun went down. Just before their first look, they stood back to back and read wedding day letters to one another. This was so sweet to witness, and these photos of them are some of my favorite from the entire day. You can just see their love and joy radiate for one another.
Even though it was freezing outside, Abbie and Adam are total troopers and spent about 10 minutes outside taking photos with us! I know it was cold in the moment, but it was so worth it to capture some snow pictures on their wedding day for them! Thankfully the Cotton Room had a covered walkway in the parking lot, and we got to keep them hiding under there while I stood out in the parking lot! Total win!
Abbie and Adam, thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding day. I absolutely loved witnessing your marriage, and capturing these photos for you! You have such a great group of friends and family who rally behind you and I loved getting to meet them.
