Every wedding day begins with details! After I check in with everyone and get to say hello, I’ll get your bridal details box and get started for the day! I recommend having all these things together before your wedding day, so you don’t have to go looking for anything the day of. I made this bridal details checklist to help you!
Photographing bridal details is one of my favorite parts of each wedding day. It gets my creative juices flowing and gets me warmed up for the rest of the day. I also love taking photos of details because I think they set the tone for the whole wedding day! Imagine you opened your wedding album to a photo of you getting your makeup done? Vs if you opened your wedding album and BAM – beautiful detail photos of the rings you picked out, your custom invitation suite, florals, and your beautiful wedding dress. It adds so much variety to your gallery! You spent a lot of time picking out these little details, and I want to photograph them for you!
Here are some items I recommend having for detail photos!
Have your wedding dress ready to go on the wedding day with a hanger you love! That beautiful gown you picked out should probably have more than a clear plastic hanger to hang on for photos. I recommend a wooden or brass hanger. A lot of brides order hangers on etsy that will have their name on it with a bow! If you don’t have one, I almost always can find a spare hanger somewhere at the venue if I have some time to get creative!
This one is at the top of the list because it’s one of the most important parts! I say all three rings, because sometimes the wedding bands can often get forgotten or they are already handed off to a groomsmen. Keep those rings in their box, and inside your details box. I will photography them, put them back, and let your planner know!
If you have a ring box, be sure to include that too! I have a small collection of a variety ring boxes of my own! If you don’t have one, I’m happy to use one of mine for your styling!
If you’re looking for a ring box – I recommend the Mrs Box!
You’ll want to include all of your beautiful stationery pieces for your detail photos. This is the most important part of your detail photos, because it ties into the theme of your entire wedding day and will help set the tone for what is to come. You thought out these details a lot, so they deserve to be beautifully photographed and preserved!
If you’re looking for some amazing custom stationery for your wedding day, check out Alexis & Lynn, Ivey and Linen Design Co, Em Paper Co, and Art by Ashley Triggiano!
I see so many brides have beautiful veils that coordinate with their dress, they were custom made, or they were passed down from their mothers. This is such a special piece of your wedding attire!
Marilyn Monroe once said if you give a girl the right shoes, she can conquer the world. Have those shoes ready in a box to hand off to your photographer so they can be a part of your detail photos. I recommend trying not to wear your shoes too much before the wedding day to avoid scuffs and dirt.
Include any special jewelry you would like photographed – including your rings! If you have earrings, a necklace, or a special bracelet, I can take a detail photos of these and use them in your flat lay to add some sparkle!
This one is important! Having extra florals for detail flat lay photos can completely transform the entire look of these photos, and these set the tone for your wedding day. Imagine opening your wedding album to a plain photo of your invitation and jewelry, vs opening your album to a fully designed flat lay with texture and color from florals. It makes a big difference and it makes my heart happy when florists have this ready!
