David and Mikey

David and Mikey are both originally from Connecticut and are high school sweethearts. Their wedding day has been a long time coming and let me tell you, it was amazing! They had the perfect fall day for their downtown Raleigh wedding at Sacred Heart Cathedral and the City Club.

Mikey originally came to North Carolina to go to Elon, so she had many of her Elon friends there to party on their wedding day! David joined her here in NC once they graduated. While they were on a trip to Hawaii together, David surprised Mikey by proposing while they were on the beach. What a dream proposal!

On the day of the wedding Mikey got ready with her girls at their home, and got to arrive to the ceremony in style with a limo! They had their traditional catholic wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart in downtown Raleigh. The front steps of this beautiful church were perfect for family photos! I love the stone, along with the flowers they added from Bloomworks.

After the ceremony we headed one block over to the Capitol building for wedding party photos and bride and groom photos! Since they had an early ceremony time, they did an extended cocktail hour and it gave them time to do all their portraits before the reception. I love that we were able to get some photos with greenery and beautiful lighting before heading up to the City Club! Downtown Raleigh is always a favorite location of mine for portraits!

If you’ve never been up to the City Club for a wedding, it is an experience! It is so cool to travel 28 floors up to get the view of Raleigh at sunset. They had a great space for cocktail hour, and floor to ceiling windows in the reception room. Mikey and David got to party all night long with their friends dancing and singing. It was so much fun! They even planned an after party in downtown Raleigh!

Mikey and David, congratulations on your amazing wedding and getting to start your lives together as a married couple! I am so happy for you guys, and I loved getting to celebrate you with all your friends and family! Thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer!!!
