Sam and Rachel

These two are finally married and I have absolutely LOVED working with them over the past year. I am so excited to finally feature their wedding day on the blog for you all!! Sam and Rachel had their dream wedding day surrounded by their friends and family this summer at Sam’s family church and The Matthews House in Cary.

Sam and Rachel met on a dating app in 2020. After about a year and a half of dating, Sam proposed on vacation with family. They were spending Easter with his family in the mountains, and on their way out to dinner, Sam and Rachel drove out to an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway where he proposed. It sounded like such a romantic place to get engaged! They love getting to go to the mountains together, so what a special place to start their new adventure.

They had such a special wedding day focused around the people that they love the most in their lives. It was so sweet to see them hugging on friends and family all night long! Their traditional ceremony was held at Sam’s family church, with a cocktail hour and reception just down the street at the Matthews House.

We did some of Rachel and Sam’s engagement photos last summer at the Matthews House. It was so great to be back there with them for their wedding day! After the ceremony, we took family photos in the chapel while a shot summer storm passed through. Summer in NC is always a little wild with the weather, so we always have to stay flexible! Then we were able to head outside for some fun bridal party photos, and portraits of the bride and groom! Then we went over to the Matthews House and took a few more portraits on the lawn, with beautiful flowers in bloom!

Sentimental Details

• Rachel mentioned she loved flatlay detail photos at her bridal portrait session. So, I got lots of beautiful details while the girls got ready! I especially loved her custom pink ring box!
• Sam’s wedding band was his late grandfathers. They had it engraved with their initials and wedding date, along with a message saying in memory of HZG. This was so special and brought some of his family members to tears when they found out.
• Sam’s parents gifted him a bible for his future bride when he was born. Rachel was given that bible on the wedding day!
• Rachel was born overseas, and her mom was gifted angel pin to be with her during the birth since her family was back in the US. Rachel carried that same angel pin on her bridal bouquet on her wedding day!

Here are some highlights to look for…

• I loved Rachel’s dress and veil so much! It was so beautiful and classic, and the long veil with lace looked so stunning in the church. It was so perfect for all her portraits too! The veil portraits are some of my favorites!
• Seeing Sam and Rachel finally see each other for the first time down the church aisle was so special.
• Their bridal party was so much fun and helped make sure the bride and groom had the best day possible – so special shout out to them!
• The mauve pink color throughout the wedding was so beautiful! I don’t think I’ve ever photographed this color before!
• Their wedding favors were toothbrushes! Rachel is a dentist, and I thought this was such a fun and unique idea that everyone loved.
• The dance floor was packed with people all night long, and you could tell how much fun everyone was having! It was the best evening and so much fun to photograph!

After their wedding, Rachel and Sam headed off to GREECE for a dream honeymoon! How fun!! Congratulations to this sweet couple, and wishing them a life full of love and happiness on their new adventure as husband and wife. Seeing how giddy these two were together and how happy they were to be married was just another sweet reminder why I love my job SO much. It was such a special day and I am so grateful to have captured it!
