As a wedding photographer, one of the highlights of my job is witnessing the unique ways couples incorporate their furry friends into their special day. Whether they’re wagging their tails down the aisle or making a cameo in the decor, dogs add an extra layer of love and joy to the celebration. Here are some “pawsitively” perfect and creative ways to incorporate your dog into your wedding day!

Dog of Honor

Why not give your pup a starring role as the “Dog of Honor”? Deck them out in a dapper bow tie, or a floral collar. Let them lead the way down the aisle, or even have them carry the rings. Their adorable presence is sure to melt hearts and create unforgettable memories.

Signature Cocktails

Get creative with your signature cocktails by naming them after your pup! Whether it’s “Puptini” or a “Barkarita,” these playful drinks will sure to be a hit with your guests and add a personal touch to your bar menu. I’ve seen amazing custom signage with water color drawings of your dog with the cocktails featured!

Decor or Bar Accessories

Infuse your wedding decor or stationary with subtle nods to your dog. I’ve seen water-colored pups featured on wedding stationery, table numbers, or signage at the reception! At your bar you could also have them featured on a napkin or on a cocktail stirrer.

Another popular way to showcase your dogs on your wedding day is to have them be featured on koozies! These are a popular wedding favor! Having a drawing of your dogs featured here is a sweet touch and guests will love to see them!

Wedding Cake Surprise

This is, by far, one of the most popular ways I see couples incorporating their dog into their wedding day! In fact, many amazing artists on Etsy can design small clay models that look exactly like your dog. For example, I’ve seen these models featured on the top of the cake or even cleverly hidden on the side. They’re often placed in the back, humorously taking a “bite” out of the cake! This idea is not only adorable, but also a hit with the guests, who always love seeing it.

There are so many creative ways to incorporate your dog into your wedding day, whether your furry friend is by your side on the big day or there in spirit. It’s a “paw-some” way to honor the bond you share. After all, your wedding day is even more magical when shared with your best friend!!
