I have known Justin for a few years now. We met each other while doing colorguard with Etude in 2015-2016! I was so excited when he and Andrew reached out about photographing their mountaintop engagement session at craggy gardens!
As soon as he said he loved the mountains, I knew I had to recommend Craggy Gardens for their engagement session location. It’s quite a hike from Raleigh, but well worth the trip!
Andrew and Justin met online, and they are absolutely perfect for one another. They chose the mountains for their engagement session location because it is special to them and they’ve had a lot of first dates and moments together in the mountains. They got engaged at the Biltmore in December 2019!
It was beautiful weather all the way driving up the mountain! But then, it started raining. Of course! The weather on top of a mountain is so unpredictable. We knew this going into it but trusted our gut and stuck around. We went ahead and hiked all the way to the top of Craggy Gardens where the overlook is, and we found ourselves in thick fog.
We made the most of it and used some clear umbrellas to keep the rain off, and then we decided to hike back down. There are so many great spots along the trail to stop and take photos. We definitely got Washington State/Twilight movie vibes with all that fog!
Once we got back to the car we decided to drive down the mountain to get out of the fog and get those beautiful mountain views that we had traveled for. Later on, the fog decided to clear out so we made the trip back up the mountain and hiked up to the overlook again to take a few more pictures and watch the beautiful sunset. Patience is a virtue, and the wait was well worth it for the incredible view.
I am so honored that Andrew and Justin chose me as their photographer for their wedding day. I had so much fun getting to know them both at their engagement session, and I can’t wait for the wedding day in October next year!

Wow… just WOW!!! What an amazing experience this was from start to finish. We had an idea of how we thought the day would go seeing how this was our first photo session. However, once we made it up the mountain and you started the shoot it was so much more exciting and enjoyable than we had imagined. We had zero experience but your level of understanding and expertise led us though the entire shoot with ease. So blessed to have such a talented friend. We thank you so very much and are looking forward to working with you on our wedding day as well. You’re simply the best. Thank you!

Wonderful pictures. My favorite of Andrew and Justin is where you take the shot of Justin touching Andrews chest, where you can see the ring, and about half their faces.
