Elle and Peter

Elle and Peter are the sweetest couple, and I have absolutely loved getting to know them and photograph them at their engagement session and on their wedding day! These two had a beautiful wedding surrounded by friends and family at one of my favorite local venues, Carolina Grove.

Carolina Grove is a modern style barn wedding nestled in the woods of Hillsborough, NC. This big white venue is BEAUTIFUL, and has lots of natural lighting and such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding any time of year. Elle and Peter met while living in the same freshman dorm at Duke, so somewhere close to their college stomping grounds was perfect for them to reunite with friends.

A tropical storm snuck up on us for their wedding day, and it ended up raining most of the day. Everything still turned out PERFECT, and they had such great spirits and made the most of everything! They sang the song Ironic all day long quoting the line “it’s like rain on your wedding day!” They also had such a great vendor team who helped make their wedding day a huge success while being flexible and pivoting. They decided to do a partially outdoor ceremony under the covered porch at Carolina Grove. This was the first time this venue has had a ceremony here – and I love it! Such a creative use of space, and a great way for them to have the trees and nature in the background for the ceremony.

Elle and Peter recently moved abroad for work, so their wedding day was almost like a destination wedding – but for them! They brought of little bit of their new home to their party with a signature cocktail drink, the gin and tonic! Their wedding day truly felt centered around spending time with their friends and family, and getting to party! It was so much fun!

• Their flowers were all done by a family member and they looked so great!
• The unique patio ceremony set up they dreamed up when the rain popped up in the forecast
• Peter’s wedding band had their wedding date engraved on it, such a sweet detail!
• The cute umbrella photos we took after the ceremony!
• They had a whole table full of wings and yummy fried foods delivered for a late night snack
• The live band they had that kept everyone on the dance floor all night long, under a canopy of beautiful string lights!

Congratulations again to Elle and Peter on their beautiful wedding day! Wishing them both a long and happy marriage! Virtually cheers-ing them with a gin and tonic right now!!
