Downtown Raleigh Engagement Photos
Houston and Raiford’s fall engagement session in downtown Raleigh was one of those afternoons that felt effortless, meaningful, and full of joy. From the very start, these two brought such a natural connection and warmth to their session. It was impossible not to be smiling behind the camera the whole time!
They first met online, but it didn’t take long for their story to turn into something truly special. Their very first date was at an ice cream shop, which feels perfectly fitting for a couple that is equal parts sweet and fun.
The Proposal
One of the things I love most about Houston and Raiford is how sentimental and intentional they are. Raiford proposed on Houston’s parents’ anniversary, which already makes it incredibly meaningful. He asked her to dinner, but along the way, they stopped at the farmers’ market together before heading to Dix Park in Raleigh. It was there, in the park, that he proposed! Nearby, a close friend was even hidden to capture the moment. As if that wasn’t magical enough already, the celebration continued that evening with a surprise engagement party! They went home to find their friends and family waiting to celebrate them.
We began their engagement photos around Christ Church, where they’ll be getting married later this year. This location holds deep meaning for Raiford’s family. His parents were married there and generations of his family have attended the church. It was so special to photograph Houston and Raiford on the very grounds where they’ll soon say their vows, continuing such a sweet family tradition. There are so many beautiful places to take photos, and the lighting was gorgeous on this fall afternoon!
From there, we made our way to the Bell Tower at NC State! Our session then took a fun and unexpected turn. To our surprise, Mrs. Wuf, the NCSU mascot, made a guest appearance and snuck up behind Houston and Raiford! It was so fun to take photos with her, and we even got to go inside the Bell Tower, which made the experience even more memorable.
Houston and Raiford’s session was the perfect mix of sentimental moments, downtown charm, and unexpected fun! I can’t wait to celebrate with them again on their wedding day this fall. See more of their downtown Raleigh engagement photos on the blog below!
